Jeroboam
A very large wine bottle. However, the exact size is not standardized. It may be equivalent to 4, 5 or 6 standard (750 ml) bottles, depending upon the wine producer. In Champagne, France and in California, it is often 3 litres in size; in Bordeaux, 3.75 litres; and in England, as much as 4.5 litres. Other sources state that there are two sizes of Jeroboams: the sparkling wine Jeroboam, which holds 4 bottles, or 3.0 litres; and the still wine Jeroboam, which holds 6 bottles, or 4.5 litres. Either way: a BIG bottle!

It's a Fact!

PELORUS JACK
Pelorus Jack was a Risso's dolphin famous for accompanying steamers in Cook Strait. First seen in 1888 when he appeared in front of the schooner Brindle as it approached French Pass, Jack escorted the ships that travelled outside Admiralty Bay and Pelorus Sound into Cook Strait. The dolphin was reputed to guide ships through the perilous French Pass. The area is dangerous to ships, but no shipwrecks occurred when Jack was present.
