Jeroboam
A very large wine bottle. However, the exact size is not standardized. It may be equivalent to 4, 5 or 6 standard (750 ml) bottles, depending upon the wine producer. In Champagne, France and in California, it is often 3 litres in size; in Bordeaux, 3.75 litres; and in England, as much as 4.5 litres. Other sources state that there are two sizes of Jeroboams: the sparkling wine Jeroboam, which holds 4 bottles, or 3.0 litres; and the still wine Jeroboam, which holds 6 bottles, or 4.5 litres.
