A term applied to wines that are expressed in a refined or delicate manner, showing finesse rather than power and weight. |

Estate bottled
A phrase used on wine labels to imply quality and declare that the wine was produced and bottled at the winery from grapes owned and grown by the winery owner. |

Aromatic flavour compounds which give fruits, juices and wines much of their "fruitiness." |

Ethanol (ethyl alcohol)
The type of alcohol produced by yeast fermentation of sugar under ordinary conditions. |

Extended maceration
A winemaking process for red wines where the juice is left in contact with the grape skins for an extended length of time after fermentation is complete. |

Extra dry
A Champagne or sparkling wine with a small amount of residual sugar. Not as dry as Brut. |
